I fear
will not live to afford them much conso-
lation – I yesterday had another long con-
versation with Mr H.
Birth: 1793-05-03 Death: 1856-05-01
on the subject of your
return to Orange in the course of which he
showed me your communication on that
subject. After conversing the advantages &
disadvantages, looking at probable results &
contingences, we alike felt unpreparred to
form an opinion – The longer we reflected the
greater difficulties presented in our undertaking
to advise – You are now at an age of life and busi-
ness when if talents are to bring you into notice

in Auburn – The glare of public sentiment must
begin to settle – A removal would destroy that
foundation which your industry and atten-
tion may have laid – Again when forming
a connection the idea probably never sugges-
ted itself that you would leave C. This
would look like a disappointment – On the
other hand your connections your property
are here – The business in the Co is increasing

sides are balanced – And after frankly stating that
it would be highly gratifying to me to have you
return if it can be honorably accomplished – Still
I am not prepared to give any opinion – but must
leave it wholly to yourself after you have careful
ly calculated the net prospects of each establishment
and the probabilities – One thing however is
certain that I. Miller

ought to give you as good
terms as a stranger – Mr H. wishes to know your
conclusion as soon as convenient – Will you write
