My Dear Brother,
I was quite sorry I missed of seeing you
at our house, had I known that you was on a visit
I should have hastened my return home, but so it is
As perhaps you were informed I left home on
a visit to Chester in Morris County. I found our
friends generally well, I spent an afternoon &
night a Gen Dickersons, whom I found not unfrien-
dly to the blessed spirit of Anti-masonry. having a
copy of your oration with me, he wished to read
it, pronounced it a good one, was much pleased
with some part of it laughed at the contest
between the two states and said it will be-
come the governor of New York to consult the
witch, he had often been solicited to become a
mason, but he observed it made idlers of its
members and had but little time to spend
he concluded not and thus he has escaped the
odium of being a mason, he laughed heartly
at the idea of poor blind candidate with a
cable tow around his neck kneeling before the
infernal altar and swearing to do violence to
his nature, he is an anti-masonry in faith
but without works which is dead. Jackson is
his idol, and to his cause will he stand,
he had taken a journey up the Conneticut river
had heard a great deal of you, and express a
desire to see you

I am led to believe that he will be a candidate
for the vice Presidency, he says he does not know
who it will be and says it will not be a south-
ern man. Meetings have been held to nominate
him, he told me to say that if you should come
within speaking distance you must call on him
and you might expect the same from him
Tho, you may think widely in many things
yet on one you agree, you admire Albert H Tracy
and so does he.
I found Mr Rev Morse engaged in the
good cause of Anti – he has buckled on the ar-
mour and will as he says continue to fight
he boldly affirms that he can do more good
by the Anti, than by preaching he is half a
team, he rides the circut of Sussex, Warren, Morris
and Burlington Counties, he is going to visit Florida
soon and to preach Masonry. The people ex-
pect him and I think if he should come we
will blaze away. he is to let me know
some days before hand.
he asked for your oration, wished to see
it much, and I wish you would send him if you
can, he says you are doing great good in the
world in breaking down Masonry which he af-
firms is the cause of the most importance in
our land.
