My dear W Henry
Florida 17th Oct 1831 —
Knowing well the anxiety you felt for the AM
cause in Old Orange I take the earliest opportunity
of stating that it has come out most glorious.
Our call of a county meeting was signed by
274 other high standing yeomanry of the Co.
There perhaps never was a more difficult
time for farmers to leave home after a
tremendious raine every one felt himself
bound to secure his crops from ruin - still by
10 oclock the roads were lined. At 2 the bell
rang and the courthouse was completely
filled. ^ J. Burt

Judge Hopkins
give us a most lurid plain and I may add
horrible detail of Masonry proved step
by step by the most authentic authors.
This took say 2 hours. The most profound
silence was observed although some Masons
present - a Comt. of one from each Town
was thus chosen of which was chairman
to recommend suitable candedate for Co
retiring a short time we returned.

Comt. of 7 was appointed to prepaire an
address Resolutions & & . This was a
glorious day for O Orange. This brought
night - and we adjourned with greatest

give life to the business. Judge H. was caressed
beyound out - But we consent to say he refused
all remuneration even for expenses and returned
the same evening Allbany hard presed to stay.
