Auburn Monday Feby 19, 1833
Dear S.
Lazette
& his wife
Albany on Tomorrow evening. They propbably will take the Cherry Valley road
for the purpose of having sleighing – and may be able to arrive travel all the
way on Runners – you in all probability they will arrive at the same time
with this letter and will detail their own exploits & "scapes" by the way
I intended to have written you by Lazette but they started one
or two hours sooner than expected. I am requested by the commissioners for
building the County Jail to say to you, that they wish the law relative to loaning
the money from the school fund so drawn as to enable them to receive the money
at once. And if any act is necessary to be done by the board of supervisors
then they wish the law so framed that the board can be called together imme-
diately. Their object is to get the money for the pupose of expending it
on the building the coming season.
I wish you would let me know how long the supreme
Court sat. I entered up 2 judgments on the last day of the fifth
Week, understanding from you and others that the court would sit
five Weeks. I have not yet learnt whether they adjourned before that
time please let me know the precise day the adjourned.
Nothing going on here that can be of interest to
you, our friend Underwood
which is as I conceive a matter for public gratulation.
