My dear Sister
Henry came home last evening – he has
had a very tedious time riding this cold weather – he
says he cannot tell precisely when he will go West
but as soon as he can get ready – perhaps this week
I shall come with him if the thermometer does
not continue below zero – the weather is now
dreadfully cold – Phebe Ray came to see me a few
days ago I gave her a letter and box of pills for
you, but have since sent for them as she thinks
of remaining until week – Phebe gives rather an
unfavorable account of your health which I am
grieved to hear – I shall not know whether
you are any better until I see you – We are
all pretty well – I am much better than I was
last week – am keeping my school regularly
Tell Frances Freddy is calculating largely
on the pleasure he is to have in visiting
Canandaigua – Augustus has been this
morning with Nicholas and Peter to get
a load of ice from the creek for rain
water – I was sadly afraid he would
freeze – Maria goes to school notwithstanding
the cold – I cannot write a long letter while
I have the prospect of seeing you soon

I have just received your Sunday
letter – You must not go away from
home if the weather continues so cold
as it is now – I had heard of A. Spencers undutiful
Henry came from Albany in company with them
we laughing over your letters

Should the weather become warm you must not
give up your visit because you expect me it is so
uncertain when we come and Eliza can take care of
us should we come while you are away – Tell Frances
that I am not willing to take Augustus away
from home so soon again – Our people are so lonely
when both the boys are away —
