New York June 7th, 1837.
My dear Jennings,
Presuming that you have before this time
arrived with your family at Chautauqua, I address
my letter to you. My negotiation here has resulted in
a favorable answer and upon terms which I think
will sooner or later be accepted by the Holland Company.
Impatient as I am to return to Auburn and to Westfield
it is nevertheless an indispensible duty to return to
Philadelphia and this I do the more readily because
I have facilities for my negotiation there which will
fail me hereafter.
I have been so long absent from Chautauqua
that I have lost all recollection of the details of
the business. I leave it all in your hands. I cannot
limit my stay at Philadelphia, but you may be
well assured that it will be short as possible.
I hope early next week to be at Auburn.
Love to Marcia
Always yours,
W H. Seward
