West field July 8 1837
My dear Grandpa
We arrived here on the
1st of July when we got to Buffalo we could not
get any steam boat that would land us either
at Portland or Dunkirk so we took the stage
and intended to stay at Silver Creek all
night but when we got to Cattaraugus they
said we must stay there or go on to
Fredonia because they had no feed for
the horses at Silver Creek so we went on
to Fredonia which was 13 miles we got there
at 12 oclock in the night.
There is a fine garden there we went to see
it the next morning before we went away we
got into the stage and rode down there we
all got out but Grandpa
Birth: 1768-12-05 Death: 1849-08-24
and Grand Grandma
Birth: 1769-11-27 Death: 1844-12-11

the stage went to turn around and turned
over and put Grandma's wrist out of joint
but the Docter put it in joint again and
we come here her wrist is better now.
I go to gather straw berries here almost every

day and get a great many and have them
for tea. We have a great field of corn and
wheat here by our house the ground is rented by
Mr Smith
Unknown
and he plants the corn and wheat.
There are gas springs here I went to see them
the other day the gas boils up through the water
we expect to come home in 2 weeks.
Your affectionate Grandson Augustus H Seward
