I arrived here at 7 this morning after two nights watching
on my way and am weary but in good spirits.
The nominations in Chautauqua will bring out less strength
than I hoped but we must look for greater excition.

here and at Albany.
New The powers will be executed as soon as the election is
over. There was no time in New York to negotiate, and the
whole effort made was directed to the procurement of the
deeds.
The best spirit prevails in N York and all over the state.
Just as it ought on the eve of the election the confidence of the
Whigs rises and that of our opponents sinks.
On the other page you have the careful and as supposed can-
did estimate of our friends at Albany where their information
is fresh and extensive. Note that our majorites are put low not from
apprehension but for safety.
