My dear Cousin,
Ma
I recieved your letter on Wednesday evening.
I think Buttercup is a funnier cat than Chitterbob,
for Chitterbob does not play half as many tricks as
Buttercup. Mr
night and Snip
invited. Chitterbob got into the water-pail last night
on purpose to imitate Buttercup I suppose. Chitterbob
was weighed this morning and she weighed five
pounds and ten ounces. I have nothing more to say.

My dear cousin Buttercup,
I want to see you very
much but I cannot come to Canandaigiua for
the same reason that you cannot com to Auburn.
I am a handsome cat and love to purr. My
