My Dear Mrs Seward
I have had intended to have written to you
long before this, you will please Excuse me for making the attempt
now. I know you are anxious to hear directly from your parents
so I will devote a part of this Sabbath afternoon in writing to
you, First, about your parents your Dear Father I suppose you know
is very feeble indeed, he has not been out of the house but once since
the Funeral of our Dear Lamented one, and not out of the room but a very
few times, he has been very feeble all winter but it seems as if
that melancholy circumstance had a tendency to discourage him i
that is Indeed a greate affliction to us all, the [ cene ] so heartrending
it seems to me that it cannot be so, but it certainly is true
your mama is very feeble too, cene tendency to discourage him i
with very soar Eyes, our friends are all well as far as I know both in
Goshen & Florida Except uncle Daniel Seward in goshen has been
expected not to live for some time Henry Seward & Nathan Cooper has been up to
see him. I suppose you have not heard that our Minister the one that has
preached to us, and warmed us so long, has resigned his pulpit, and
I believe about to remove to. Philadelphia with his family, we shall
miss him very much, I think, he will rent out his farm and house,

Mary Horton

Birth: 1816-05-11 Death: 1892-01-18

his Daughter who married Dr Horton lives in goshen she has
a young son two months old. she is not very well hirself. neither
dangerously sick, it is thought they will go with Dr Cummins s
family to philadelphia. they will be missed too very much. Dr Cummins
has lived in Florida so long it will be hard parting with him, ummi
then the next thing is to lookout, for a preacher, who it will be I do not know

I hope Ere this your health is much better. I have not heard from you
in some time. are you able to ride out any. do you Enjoy yourself in
Albany. I suppose you receive a greate deal of company, but I under-
stand that you do not find it, nesicery to concern your mind about the
house affairs, a greate relief, I understand that Mrs worden accom-
panys you. very pleasant how is hir health. I hope it is better than
it was when I saw her at westfield. I hope she Enjoys herself too —
how does the Children do. Augustus wrote to his Grandma by uncle
Jennings for which she thanks him very much and says he is a good
boy. I do not hear anything from Frederick I hope he is well. is Frany
with Mrs Worden how does she do., Is Judge Miller with you yet e
I think Aunt Clara & Mr McClallen must be very lonely when you
are all away I do not know how she can live without Augustus.
I know the time will appear long to her,.
we do want to see you all very much, I hope we
may look for you all here when the legislature brakes up and
the weather is suitable for you to travel so far. I will wait on you
with a greate deal of pleasure. we do feel quite lonely here and
we love to see our friends come,. we have had quite warm-weather
for some days. the ground begins to dry some tho we have to keep the
house shut up pretty close and a good fire on. I suppose Mr Seward is very
much Engaged in business all of the time, I hope it will not be too hard
for him, to Injure his health, your Papa & Mama send a greate
deal of Love to yourself and all of your family. Oh how I do want to r
see the Children tell them that I do love them very much please give my lov
to them. Mrs Worden, & Mr Seward, please Excuse this poor letter.

saying the boys has the scarlet fever
