Florida 20th March 1839
My dear Henry
I wrote you a long letter some days
since to send by Gen Post
immediately to Albany but appears he has not
yet got started. It now becomes my painfull task
to inform you of the death of Dr Candfields
est child
fever. Your dear Ma
born down. Dr Danl Seward
also departed this life. Mr Uman
is also dead. Our friend Major Wheeler
singularly handled and I fear danger in his Case
Poor Cornelia
uncertain are the things of this World.
We have had an important protracted
meeting in Florida, Old & New school has arose
at an angry pitch. The Elders believing they
had a Majority began to whisper they should
change their Pastor. Doct. Cummins
instantly as a dismission from the Congregation
stating that through Judge Wilkenson
the offer of an agency in the Colinisation society
that afforded him a better Salary. Started
off to Washington and has not preached for us
since. How shall we get along without the Society of the
Dr & family

I see the Court of Chancery are reporting a ^Discisons^ number
how stands our Carver vs Wood & Wood. The Chancellor
and you are so wide apart I fear it will go bad.
I think you informed me Mr S Stevens
imployed. I have no confidence in our New

look to it occasionally. Marcy

of Turnpike Inspector. What has become of this
The Troop say too they mean to have him out
His horse has been shaved Tar & feathered
he is a scandal to the County a flaughingstock
for everybody. And yet the sole Committee
man for Warwick riding the County over
to carry the Town meetings. How long shall we
be infested with such reptiles. We beat them
in the fall we shall beat them againn
if our people do their duty but Warwick you
know is lacking energy. Dock. Comt. run out 20 days
after the first of January do look at this.
