My Dear Seward
I see by the proceedings in the Senate that the law has
passed providing for the appointment of a Supreme Court Commissioner
in this place: We are all anxious that Judge Howell
Name: Nathaniel Howell
Birth: 1770-01-01
Death: 1851-10-15Certainty: Possible
should be appoin-
ted to this office: he is so competent to discharge the duties of this office
that his services would be highly useful to the profession, and creditable
to the party. And withal as he is out of practice his appointment
would accommodate the whole of us, and I hope he will if he has
not already receive the nomination:
I recd a letter from Lazette

yesterday, about coming home.
I shall write her this evening or tomorrow.
Truly &c
Worden
