Dear Seward,
Sibley
of stirring events and changes one has occurred this morning in reference
to a political movement in this district. which indicates that Sibley
must be the Candidate: he will carry the district more triumphantly
than any other man, and the fear is we cannot be safe with
any one else: Sibley swears he will not. cannot ought not to run
and I know the sacrifice would be great: his nomination
will be pressed, and unless a formal refusal is had he will
be nominated I think: Now talk this thing over with him
and have a letter written to Thomas Hall of our county
directed to him at Auburn and one which any of our
county delegation may open and read with something
definite on this subject. which may be read on the day
of the Convention. the 18h inst
