My dear William Henry
We have concluded health
and the weather permitting to visit
Albany the 22nd Inst by the day Boat
your dear Ma
feeble as infants and although it has
been, our long and anxious desire
to visit you indisposition and
and the want of strength to perform
the Journey has hitherto detered us,
and indeed we should not now
venture so great an undertaking
but for the unpleasant circumstance
that Mrs Seward has for a long time had
a small serious ulcer on her lip and
recently we have not been without
our fears it mought be a Cancer In
which case I wish the aid or, adivser of
some Surgeon of your City –––
Frances we are ^informed
^ is in
Auburn – We cant think of going unless
she is at home we therefore write this
early to give her an opportunity to
return and meet us – We shall
stay at Newburgh on Monday night
and go up with the morning Boat
It is so long since I have traveled by
Steams that I feel at a loss will you
therefore select a Capt. and advise
him of our being his company that day
this will be an assistance to us –––

Will you write or cause to be written
to me a letter in answer to this as soon
as it arrives directed to George Grier
requesting him to send it out im-
mediately and till us about Frances
and ever other circumstance relative
to this Visit – Considering our feeble-
ness it is probable the only effort
we shall ever make to spend few
days with you
Your affectionate Father
