Florida 22 Nov 1841
My dear Henry
Your kind favour of the 14 Inst.
was regularly received and I am more than ever
surprised to hear that Augustus
on his way home — He observed when he left Florida
that he was going directly to his Uncles
Either Edwin Polydore
Seward and should
be detained there some days — He made but one
suggestion to me of his movements — He said
as he calculated he and his wife
board with Wm Finn
to do this winter he could not employ his
time better than writing a short history of
the life of his lamented Father
no reply —
I wrote Esq Graham that Bates
would call on him as council in my Wood case
I also wrote them, asking of them to do so — I have
just received rather a tart reply from McKissock
stating that they had agreed to submit the case to
the chancellor by written arguments — That
these had been prepared Submitted and
corrected by Wm Kent
handed over to the Chancellor — and that
there was nothing for David Graham Inc to
do — But that he believed they had not
received a council Fee and Wished I would
forward it — To all which I answered that
if I had received a statement of their providing
I should have thought with him that we
did not need the assistance of Mr Graham —
In this Case I am Ignorant of what fee he
is intitled to — will you please to infor ^m^

Accounts from Illinois says that Brother Jr
lost his wife
Three sides of the entire walls of the
new Court House in Goshen blew down
the last heavy wind — The three story stone
stands as erect as an old revolutionary
Officer Will the people of this great Republic
give up their liberty their property their privileges
their opportunities of confirming for themselves
and their posterity one of the happiest governments
in the world to gratify a set of vultures whose only
object is to grind the people down to slavery and
establish for themselves an aristotratick rule
equal in power & oppression to any other Monarchies
of Europe — fear that poor blinded Whigs and
wicked simple locos will see this Affectionately SSS
