Florida, 28th May 1842
Saturday Afternoon
My dear Uncle,
I write to inform you of my arrival
here last evening and to say that I found my Grand Pa
still very feeble and very little, if indeed any, better
than when I left. His fever remains still unabated
& he is entirely unable to sit up. The changes of the
weather operate so unfavorably that his fever is not
yet broken, his strength is constantly wasting, and
we see not how he can make the least advance to-
wards improvement until these difficulties are overcome.
Grand Pa’ desires me to request that you would
come again to see him: as he is anxious that it
may be as soon as possible. Should it be imprac-
ticable for you to come sooner he suggests that it
might be well to come in Saturday (to-day week) and
if necessary return by the Monday morn boat.
The rest of the family are ^in^ usual health.
