I have hoped all the morning, my dear
Mrs. Seward that the afternoon would
bring with it sufficient energy to
allow me to see you but as I am
denied that pleasure I venture to
write you to say that I hope tomorrow
to see our friends
and that certain as I am of a
welcome I would willingly render it
still more cordial by bearing anything
Mrs Seward might like to send.
I trust you will not consider me dil-
atory but I did not know certainly
till this morning that even for a day
or two I could leave home -

I anticipate much pleasure from seeing
our friends and hope to bring you
a favorable account of them next
week. I hope my dear Mrs Seward
you will not consider me officious
but believe me to be yours with
affectionate respect
