My Dear Sister
I hope I do not tres-
pass upon your sympathies by
again writing of my troubles and
afflictions and yet I shall not
call them troubles or afflictions
if my dear partner
Birth: 1812-09-30 Death: 1848-10-18
grows

Alternate Text: dearer
by the afflictions she sus-
tains and the pains she suf-
fers shall be spared to me &
to her children
x Birth: 1833-06-08  Death: 1891-06-12  Birth: 1844-11-20  Death: 1917-01-29  Birth: 1840-11-08  Death: 1910-11-28  Birth: 1838-04-16  Death: 1916-02-22  Birth: 1835-01-09  Death: 1926
,
Some ten days I wa re-
quested Frances Grier
Birth: 1801-01-16 Death: 1860-02-07
to write
you of Tempes situation, her Father
Birth: 1783-10-25 Death: 1865-04-15

who has been with her constantly
for the last four weeks spoke
very discouragedly of her case and
excited my worst apprehensions
Page 2

Since which time, the whole
nature of her disease has changed
from her stomach to her head
her strength failed rapidly
her pulse became weak, She, lost
her reason, became partially
delirious and appeared be be
sinking, but at this time
Wednesday 8 o, clock PM she
is apparently much better
pulse better, free from pain
reason though weak yet clear
and our hopes and are considerably
strengthened, but she has been
better and worst so often, that
I do not and cannot be free
from apprehensions untill
she sits up and appears free
from disease, for twelve long
weeks she has been confined to
her bed and for the last five
they have anxious days
Page 3

untill I have become willing
to trust the issue where it
must be -–
Through this long sickness
I have been cheered much by
the sympathy manifested
for her and for our family
by many friends
surely if there has been pain
and disease anxiety and care
there has also been its antidote
in the aid and kindness of
these friends -–
I think (though I have often
thought before) that a few days
must determine the issue
my hopes & fears too easily ex-
cited will realize that issue
oh! which with what satisfaction
I could write you of a favorable
result, b [hole] my hoping are now
for the best if you think me
childish you will remember
Page 4

that I have no other
Sister so near into whose
ears I may pour my com-
plaint.
The family are mostly well
I have had a severe billious att-
ack of head ack and sickness
but it now passed over
Yours Affectionately
Geo W Seward
