My Dear Son –
When I came from
home, I think you promised
me that you would write to
me while I should be
here, but I have not received
any letter –
I hear the blue
birds and robins singing mer-
rily every morning – I suppose
they are on the way North to
take up their homes around our

house. Would it not be a
good thing for you to get
Mr Carpenter
nice Martin's House and
put it up on the Tower —
On coming to the Capitol
this morning I met a
lady
on her nose. Most people
would have liked her
the worse for this, but I
did not, and I was sorry
that others would do so – Can
you tell the reason?
I hope Bruno is

harness – I was very sorry
to hear of your accident, and
I sincerely hope that you are
getting well –
