Congress Hall Albany Tuesday evening
June 5. 1849
My Dearest Frances,
We commenced the examination of witnesses this morning
and have been engaged in it all day. I have seen few persons
and learned nothing that would interest you. The public mind
begins to take an alarm about the Cholera. The Governor
Birth: 1808-08-03 Death: 1893-09-07
as
you see has issued a Proclamation revising the Board of Health
which has been discussed in the several towns.
I visited Mrs Rufus King
Birth: 1805-05-29 Death: 1878-01-10
last evg and found her
quite annoyed that you did not intend to go to the
convocation and hear your son speak, as she goes to hear
her son-
I took tea at Mr Weeds
Birth: 1797-11-15 Death: 1882-11-22
Harriet
Birth: 1819-02-06 Death: 1893-11-01
and Emily
Birth: 1827-10-10 Death: 1889-02-10
were
the housekeepers. Mrs Weed
Birth: 1797 Death: 1858-07-03
has gone to Chenango.
Mr Benedict
Birth: 1785-11-07 Death: 1862-07-15
who is both happy and grateful stayed
with me until midnight.
I learn from Philadelphia today
that Judge Kane
Birth: 1795-05-16 Death: 1858-02-21
has given us a full decree in our
patent cause there. I am quite sure that I shall go home
before Saturday. I go tonight to Troy to spend the time
with Mr. Winslow
Birth: 1810-11-10 Death: 1892-03-10
, and return in the morning.
Love your own Henry
