My Dear Mrs. Seward,
I beg you will
pardon my unavoidable delay in
sending you the circular you
desired. I wrote immediately to
Miss Dutton
Birth: 1807-11-10 Death: 1887-07-27
requesting it and thenext day received a letter from her,
desiring me to pass the Winter with
her and assume the duties of her
second assistant. Miss Larned
Birth: 1825
, who issuffering much from nervous debility,
and unable to be in school. She was
anxious for me to come soon.
I decided to accept her proposition and
I am now here, having left home
after a little less than a week's notice.
Miss Dutton did not send the
circular to me, as she knew it could
not reach me before I left home.
I hope it may not be too late to bring
your niece
Birth: 1836-02-16 Death: 1910-02-06
here. I find the housemuch altered and more pleasant
and convenient. As far as I can judge,
I should think Miss Dutton had
secured the assistance of very efficient
teachers and there are many
advantages to be desired from lecture
here, of which other places are destitute
There is also the inducement of a
pleasant class of young ladies.
My thoughts are frequently with
you and your family. Give much
love to Carrie
Birth: 1793-05-01 Death: 1862-09-05
for me and also toWillie
Birth: 1839-06-18 Death: 1920-04-29
and Fanny
Birth: 1844-12-09 Death: 1866-10-29
. Please do notfail to send us your niece. I will
do all in my power to render her
stay pleasant and profitable.
With sincere affection,
Truly yours,
Maria Avery –
