Dear Mother
Last night
I felt of course a
little homesick. Morning
has however dispelled
it although the sun
does not shine,
So far from it
that we have had
a severe thunder-
storm and gas (at
half past seven) at
break-fast did its
service. Frances’es

now, and Is am
writing in it; it is
very light has one window
and large glass doors
opening on the piazza.
It has rained hard
and a little bird
but a moment
ago sipped from one
of the puddles left by
it. There sits a little
robin near my parlor
window for me to
see his beautiful red
breast, give love
to all and this
little letter to Eliza.
I read in my testam-
ent this morning.

Good bye, and answer
my letter if it is not
too tiresome.
Your own little
Fanny
(Seward)
P.S. last night
