Auburn March 10. 1857.
My Dear Uncle,
I am advised by messrs James G. King & Son
per their letter of the 5th Instant that they have received my account
from Baring Brothers & Co. and that they have transmitted the same
to you. Their letter also informs me that they are authorized to
receive the reimbursement of the amount loaned to me by the Messrs
Baring but that they are ignorant of that amount. they also
inform me that you have promised on your return from
Washington to call upon them and settle the account.
The amount which I received from the Messrs Baring
was £40. say $200.00. That sum was remitted to Them per
the steamer Canada of the 12th February from Boston and I am
not aware that I am now indebted to them unless it is on
Postage account.
I have written to the Messrs King informing them
of the transmission of the two Hundred dollars and I think it proper
to advise you also of it, in order that you as well as they may
feel relieved from all responsibility. All well at home.
