Assuming that the reference to Sarah is to Sarah Hance, this letter is
unlikely to have been written before 1855, when she became Fanny’s tutor, but it
seems more likely this letter was written as late at 1861, when the movements of
Frederick William Seward would be more newsworthy.

morning at 6o'clock so
I must write to night
I have been sick all
day – but am better
to night – What are
your plans about coming
home – Will you be
ready to meet me in
Canandaigua Thursday –
if so let me know –
