Auburn June 3d 1862
My dear Father
I send herewith statement
for May. Also satisfaction piece for
JM Austin
now fully paid – please execute and
return the satisfaction to me.
We have now on hand about $2000 of
which at least $1000 is principal. I have
made arrangements for building two houses
for which I think I shall find ready
sale (every house now being occupied) this
will use up or invest about $800 of the
money and if the balance remains until
the middle of the month I think it would
be well to take up or reduce one of the
two notes (Bk of Aub $1000, WHS Jr & Co $1500)
I have sold two lots with in a few
days, one with contract to advance about $100
to assist in building Blacksmith Shop – taking
mtg on other property as further security to
contract and the other without any contract
to build. It is very probable that
