children have been left
in Baltimore because she
could not bring them
away without a pass –
She thinks her master
disloyal –

the man
her children if she will
give him $100 – He would
more probably sell her
or restore her to her
master for money –
The woman is in great
distress fearing the
children will again fall
into the hands of the
master –
Ask Fred
Stanton
thing in the matter
and if he can be
so kind as to see him
yourself if Fred should
prefer not to so –
very affectionately

Shift from ink to pencil If our government should
feel it necessary to return
these children then
the mother would pay
to have no interference
at all as she pays
they should remain
with the man who
has them rather than
go back to the
master –
Write me as soon as
you can –
