My dearest Frances
I give you in the enclosed extract
from the Philadelphia Inquire the
first clue I have found to the where-
abouts of our son
Person
it is seen that his regiment 9th NY,
Heavy Artillery is in General Wrights
Person
Army Corps (The Sixth), and that it
was conquered in the battle of last
Monday, when two of its captains
Person
were wounded. From the absence of any
mention of William among the casualties
it is partly inferred that he was left
unharmed.
Hollis White
Person
post today and I have charged
him with letters to William. I share
all your anxiety about him and
I shall let you know without delay
whatever I gather concerning him.
Your own Henry
