2d Line of Entrenchments
Near Cold Harbor June 7
My dear Jenny
Seven days have now
passed since we first occupied this
work. we lose more or less men
every day on the picket line
My 1st & 2d are entirely safe being a
deep hole dug in the sand & barrica-
ded, so you see I am out of danger
I have not seen Banta
first moved in here, although he
sends me up something to eat
by Coy
Maj Taft
the first day or two but is not
dangerous. It seems to me as though
every officer in the Regt were sick
when most wanted I thank providence
that I am perfectly well

I saw Moe
well, the 2d Corps is about a Mile
& half on our left
We learn but little of army
movement outside of our own
Brigd. The ^Reble^ works in our fort
are very strong and I doubt
if our army think prudent
to attack them where they are
Love to all Your
Will
