My dear Anna
I wrote this morning
to Washington, that letter
may not reach you.
After various plans Father
Birth: 1801-05-16 Death: 1872-10-10
has at length decided
to go to New York by the
way of Orange County.
We leave tomorrow afternoon
go to Cayuga or Geneva
up the lake to the
Erie road. You are
to be telegraphed to
meet me in New York
and then if the weather
will permit we will go
somewhere to the sea
together. I cannot tell
how long we shall
be going to New York, as
I leave the arrangements
to Father – in truth I
would have preferred the
