My dearest Jenny
I have tried so far to write
you a line every day since I came back &
believe I have accomplished it so far I hope
my letters reach you more regularly than
my mail does me it not being an unfrequent
occurance for a letter from home to be over
a week on the road and one I recd to day
that had been ever since Dec 1st on the way
I have written Mr Day
Birth: 1817-02-23 Death: 1878-02-28
several time within
the last three weeks about the McClallen
Birth: 1791-09-07 Death: 1860-11-16
house
but as yet have heard nothing from him. I wish
you would send over & inquire if he has
recd my letters & what has been done about
it. I recd a letter from mother
Birth: 1805-09-24 Death: 1865-06-21
to day
& also one from Fanny
Birth: 1844-12-09 Death: 1866-10-29
with an illustrated copy
of the Frogs Courtship
Author: H. L. Stephens Publisher: Hurd & Houghton Place of Publication:New York City Date: 1865
which is very funny.
Mother says that Aunty
Birth: 1803-11-01 Death: 1875-10-03
talks some of going
to Canandaigua & if she does that she shall not
go home quite so soon as she should otherwise.
The sleghing here to day ^is very good^ and my staff seem

to be enjoying it very much. As I write
George
Birth: 1808-08-26 Death: 1888-12-07
with a pair of horses & an old basket
sleigh filled with officers have just drove
off.
Birth: 1832-09-10 Death: 1867-01-20
is still with me and will probably
remain over Christmas He is very anxious to
learn what action will be taken in his
case at the War Dept. I have written there
for him but recd no answer yet
Your
Will
