My dear Fanny
I have your letter of the 5th
Your last Sunday seems to have be[ en ]
Reason: hole
spent in the house under duress of a snow
storm Mine was consumed in writing
and submiting dispatches for the President’s
approval. It was a vicious day but
I ed it not. Political elements
were raging around the national house.
The Tunisians have gone. today we
receive the Argentinians.
We have all rejoiced over
the New York and New Jersey elections
