July 10t 1870
Dear Father
I received your
letter of July 6t to day.
Am glad that
you had a pleasant visit
with Fred
Birth: 1830-07-08 Death: 1915-04-25
.
I will endeavor
to arrange matters so
that I can be at Auburn
on the 10t of August.
I leave here to-morrow
for Columbia and Spartan-
burg
to pay the troops at
those stations and shall
be absent some 3 or 4
days from this city.
The weather has
not been as warm here

as I expected, on account
of having a sea breeze daily.
When there is no
breeze it is very warm.
Love to all,
Yours affectionately,
Augustus
