My dear Son,
Your letter addressed to me at Albany has made me
very happy, for I have the utmost confidence in your fidelity to the
resolution you have adopted. The misfortunes of the past may
be turned to the improvement of the future– it is only by much experience

But if it should prove otherwise this letter may be used to show
that no information of any kind yourself in any way
has ever reached me–
