Biography

"1822-1824 Pastor of the Scots Associate Reformed Church in Philadelphia. During his pastorate, the church ceased its association with this head organization and transferred to the Presbyterian Church. It became known as the Eighth Presbyterian Church and was attached to the Presbytery of Philadelphia.

In 1824, Rev James Arbuckle came from Philadelphia to became pastor of the Blooming Grove Church, a position he held until his death. He was Presbyterian and associated with the Presbytery of the Hudson. He was considered a strong-willed, free thinker and not everyone agreed with his views."
