US Congressman. Elected to represent Connecticut's 4th and 5th Districts in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1839 to 1843, and 1845 to 1849. Also served as a United States Senator from Connecticut from 1849 to 1854, Member of the Connecticut State House of Representatives in 1831, and Federal Judge in 1862.
