  •  Henry invests in the Auburn and Owasco Canal and is part of the canal's Board of Directors, elected in 1835.

  •  Henry's father was Col. Christopher Yates (see Find-A-Grave link below) and his mother was Jannetje (Jane) Bradt. Henry's siblings were the Rev. Andrew Yates, Joseph Christopher Yates (b. 1768), and Johannes Barentse Yates (1784-1836).  Joseph Christopher was the mayor of Schenectady, a state senator and judge, and J. Barentse married Mary Skelding. Johannes Barentse also invested in canal work and had an extensive estate when he died.

  •  Henry's son, Edward, married Elizabeth Jane Miller (the half-sister of Abijah Miller, Jr.).
