Biography

US Congressman and lawyer in New York. Born (exact date unknown) and raised in Troy, NY. He graduated from Union College in 1819, where he was WHS's classmate. He then studied law and was admitted to the bar. He set up his first law practice in New York City in 1831. He was elected to the 23rd Congress (1833-1834) as a Jacksonian. He resigned and did not participate in reelection. He was unsuccessful candidate for mayor of New York City in 1845. He died overseas in Paris, France.
