Mary Abigail Dodge was the daughter of James Brown Dodge and Hannah Stanwood. Born in Hamilton, Mass., Mary Abigail Dodge was an essayist who wrote under the name of Gail Hamilton. 
 
Mary Abigail Dodge is mentioned in an 1859 letter from Frances to Lazette (18590212FMS_LMW). "Pike  & his wife were there, Mrs Piatt of Cincinnati,  Miss Dodge, who signs her production Gale Hamilton, & Mr Wood  who has recently published the “Scenes in Another World” making Heaven..."
