Biography

Dr. John Frederick Steinhauser was a surgeon who travelled extensively. In October 1859 he spent a few weeks traveling Europe with William Henry Seward. In Spring of 1860 he visited America, visiting the Sewards. He traveled America as the companion of Sir Richard F. Burton. Frances mentions Dr. Steinhauser visiting Auburn in he letter of June 3, 1860. Dr. Steinhauser also served at Punjab and Mooltan. He died in Berne, Switzerland.
