Ad in the 1860 Auburn Directory states, "L.C. Mann, City Insurance Office, at the Auburn Savings Bank, Auburn, N.Y. Life and fire risks taken in the best stock companies, at the usual tariff of rates. All Losses adjusted and promptly paid at this Office. Also, Dealer in Real Estate, Bounty Land Warrants, Loans of Bonds and Mortgages, Commissioner of Deeds, etc, etc."
His office is listed at 72 Genesee, and his home is listed at 2 Benton in Auburn NY.
He is mentioned in a letter from William Henry Seward Jr to William Henry Seward on April 21st, 1860 (18600421WSJ_WHS), "Mr Mann says the money will be forthcoming as soon as the statement is paid." This was written in reference to an insurance claim made due a barn fire at the Seward's Auburn home on April 17th of that same year.
