Harriet Crosby Risley was the mother of Olive Risley, William Henry Seward's adopted daughter. Harriet was the daughter of Orris Risley, a well-regarded physician, and his wife Sally. She married Hanson Risley in June 1835, and they had several children. Only two, Olive and Harriet, survived to adulthood. Harriet died in Washington DC in 1868, and was buried in Fredonia, NY where the family lived.
