Biography
Florence Moore was the daughter of Rose O'Neale Greenhow, noted Confederate spy, and Dr. Robert Greenhow, a doctor, lawyer, and State Department employee. In 1855, she married Seymour Tredwell Moore, a graduate of West Point, who was stationed in California in the 1850s to protect miners against Native American attacks and in Nevada during the American Civil War. Frances "Fanny" Seward references her in her 1858-1859 diary as "Mrs. Moore" and she appears to circulate in popular political circles. On May 04, 1860, Florence writes to Frances M. Seward telling her about her new home in San Francisco, CA.
