Biography

"Calvin Huson died at his residence in Dundee on the 8th inst., at the age of 75 years.—Mr. Huson was the father of Calvin Huson, Jr., late of Rochester N.Y., who was captured by the rebels at the first battle of Bull Run, and died in their prison at Richmond, Va. He was a soldier in the war of 1812.

He was one of the early settlers in Starkey, where he first settled about half a century ago, upon the farm now occupied by Nelson Holden. He removed from there to Seneca, Ontario Co., and resided in Seneca many years, then sold out and returned to Starkey, owning and living for a long time upon the farm formerly owned by his father, the late Nathaniel Huson, near Dundee; this farm he sold about two months ago and moved into that village...

Note: Calvin was the son of Nathaniel and Anna (Spink) Huson. He married Betsey Crego in 1817 at Hillside, Columbia County, New York, and fathered 16 children. Served in War of 1812 as a private, NY Militia. "
