Biography

Guido Reni began studying painting at the age of nine. He joined the Carracci Academy when he was 20. Throughout his life he alternated living ing Bologna and Rome. He painted Frescos in Rome in various churches, including the Vatican. He also painted "The Cycle of the Labors of Hercules" for the Duke of Mantua which are now in the Louvre. Near the end of his life his paintings became more melancholy.
