Member of New York state assembly from Steuben County, 1830; member of New York state senate, 1840-43, 1854-55 (6th District 1840-43, 26th District 1854-55); delegate to Republican National Convention from New York, 1856; U.S. Minister to Nicaragua, 1861-63, 1863-69. Burial location unknown.
