Biography

Henry Rooker served for the Union Army as part of the Ninth New York Heavy Artillery. He enlisted in the Army at the age of 22, and served with William Seward Jr. He survived the war and married Cathrin Rooker. A "Rooker" is mentioned in some of WSJ letters and it could be either Henry Rooker or George Rooker (more information needed).

Biography: 
Mentioned in 18641020WSJ_FMS. WSJ writes "My staff & myself occupy a large house near the centre of the town & with Henry Rooker for a cook." From Lyons NY. 1861 enlisted in the 27th Ny infantry. Remained in this unit from 1860-61.

Biography: 
In 1865 transferred from the 9th Heavy Artillery (which WSJ commanded) to the 2nd Heavy Artillery. Unclear when Rooker started with the the 9th Heavy Artillery but he remained in that unit until approximately 1864/65.
