Anson Wood is mentioned in William Seward, Jr.'s letter to "Jenny" MacNeil Seward (nee Watson) on March 26, 1865. William writes "I am just in receipt of a telegraph from Major Anson Wood of the 9th Arty saying that he will accept the position of apt adj Genl on my staff with rank of captain." Wood was a member of the 2nd NY Heavy Artillery as well.
