Biography

"David moved in 1816 to Cayuga Co, NY until 1834 when he moved to Michigan. ... He served a number of terms as Supervisor and one term as County Commissioner." Source: History of Cass County, Michigan, 1882; quoted on Find A Grave

In 18320310AHW_WHS1, AHW says that "D Hopkins has been nominated in Brutus as Supervisor." David Hopkins's family was connected to Weedsport (formerly called Brutus), and David and his father both served as Supervisor and in other leadership roles in their communities. It is not certain that David Hopkins is the person referenced here because the term he served as Supervisor mentioned here was likely in Michigan, but given his and his father's levels of community involvement, it is likely.
