Biography

McCulloch served as secretary of the Treasury under President Lincoln in 1865, and also under President Andrew Johnson from 1865 to 1869. Subsequently, he moved to England and joined a partnership in banking with Jay Cooke. He was mentioned in William Seward, Jr.'s September 30 letter to Frederick William Seward in 1867 and in Frederick William Seward's November 12 letter to William Henry Seward (his father) in 1870.
