Founder of the American Museum of Natural History. Resigned from the post of superintendent in 1884 to assume that of curator of the Dept. of Public Instruction. Albert S. Bickmore wrote a book titled: "Travels in the East Indian Archipelago", published in 1868. He writes to Charles Sumner in 18680720 talking about his returning from the East Indian Archipelagp.
